How did I get here ?

The Tableau vivant format has long been a part of my own photography – possibly influenced by the images (in old books) I consumed as a child.

So it was an active factor in this ‘mythology’ shot

I also tend to favour simple, ‘classic’ lighting setups (when I think it’ll work), so that also informs my style.

I’ve also used the format in fashion/beauty shoots …

… as well as model shoots

Whilst I’m happy with all of these, I think the addition of motion makes each image unique, capturing a ‘long moment’ in time that can’t be predicted when the shutter is pressed.

Although I’d been thinking about a motion blur shoot for a while, Ilaria Facci‘s inspirational self-portraits motivated me to try something similar – this project has been developing since.
