The Tableau vivant format has long been a part of my own photography – possibly influenced by the images (in old books) I consumed as a child.
So it was an active factor in this ‘mythology’ shot
I also tend to favour simple, ‘classic’ lighting setups (when I think it’ll work), so that also informs my style.

Whilst I’m happy with all of these, I think the addition of motion makes each image unique, capturing a ‘long moment’ in time that can’t be predicted when the shutter is pressed.
Although I’d been thinking about a motion blur shoot for a while, Ilaria Facci‘s inspirational self-portraits motivated me to try something similar – this project has been developing since.
