“Power and Beauty” at the New Art Gallery, Walsall

One of my personal projects, which I’ll be writing about when it takes a bit more form (I’m using the working title of “Sunday Best”), dovetailed quite well with the brief for one of our College projects – entitled “Power and Beauty” – which was undertaken with Magnum photographer Mark Power.

This project, commissioned by MultiStory, engaged students from two local colleges (including mine) to produce their own “take” on the subject of “Hidden Beauty”, and work by eight students from each College were selected for exhibition at the New Art Gallery in Walsall.

I was delighted that three of my photos were selected – and even more delighted with the feedback that I received at the Private View.

These images were taken on Easter Sunday at St. Mary Magdalene Church in West Bromwich, and I’d like to thank vicar Peter Sellick and his congregation for making me welcome.

Phil Brooks – one of the tutors – played a key part in making this happen, and he’s put together a book of the output, which can be found on Blurb (if the embed below doesn’t work).
