Want to be a model ? Well how about kick-starting your portfolio with a professional photoshoot ?
When casting models, photographers will look at your portfolio – if it’s inspirational, then they’re more likely to book you than if it’s just phone photos.
So these shoots are aimed at starting off your portfolio, tailored to the sort of modelling you want to follow.
We’ll run the session as a workshop, so you understand why you’re doing things, not just following direction.
One shoot won’t fill your port, of course, and you’ll get better over time, but this will help you hit the ground running.
Your choice of styles
Boudoir, Fashion, Portrait, Glamour – even Cosplay. It’s your call, I’ll be working to your brief.
Beauty shoots are excluded from this package – unfortunately, there would be no time for anything else – but do ask me if that’s something you want to work on.
If you’ve got some really creative ideas, then that’s great – I’ll see if we can make them happen.
I don’t use a ‘boilerplate’ production line system, so we’ll have a chat before the shoot to talk about what sort of images you’d like.
To give me an idea, it’s best if you put together a ‘mood board’ of the sort of images you’d like to see – Pinterest is really good for putting these together.
What you’ll get :
- Pre-shoot consultation to establish the sort of modelling you want to try
- Four hours of studio shooting (we can also shoot elsewhere in the building, if you’d like some different images).
- Normally, this will give us a minimum of three different lighting setups to suit your outfits.
The studio has good natural light, as well as studio lighting.
- Posing guidance during the shoot
We’ll review the images as we go along, so you can see what works and what doesn’t.
- 10 professionally shot and edited images, suitable for on-line portfolios or social media
Normally, I’ll produce 2-3 different versions of each edited image, so you’ll have a choice of final images to use.
- Frank and honest advice (if you want it !) about how to take things further.
We’ll have a chat about what you want to get out of modelling, and how seriously you want to take it.
- No hard sell on “extras”
- Proof images available for you to make your choices within 48 hours – this is a secure page (you’ll get your own password), so nobody else can see them.
- Edited, shareable images within 2 weeks of your selection.
The session costs £80 for a four-hour studio session.

I can arrange for a professional makeup artist (‘MUA’), at extra charge, or you can arrange your own if you want.
This will typically cost £20-30 for a ‘look’, depending on your requirements.
An MUA is highly recommended for the classic glamour style.
Professional C-Type prints can be arranged. Prices are available on request, and I’ll be happy to show you my print portfolio if you want to check the quality.
You can bring a friend along (make sure she wants to model as well) for a total of £100 – for this you’ll get 6 image choices each. It’s up to you whether you want to work as individuals, or together.
I’ve written another post about the studio.
A pickup is available from central Birmingham, if you ask.
I assume that you’ll want “Instagram Safe” images, unless agreed before the shoot – or your mood board can give me an idea.
In any case, I don’t shoot explicit genitalia.
Cosplay – this can be quite time-consuming in terms of makeup and costume changes, so the number of changes may be limited.
If you are under 18, then you must bring a responsible adult (over 25).
Shooting styles will be limited to age-appropriate styles – this is the law, so it’s not negotiable.
I will ask for ID if there’s any doubt – please take this as a compliment 🙂
My retouching style gives a natural look – essentially, removing blemishes. Examples are available on request, although you should get an idea from my portfolio.
I don’t produce glossy, “airbrushed” images.
Location shoots can also be aranged on request.
